In 2011 Heart of Illinois Harvest has transported an average of 6.5 tons of donated, surplus food each week. Who do you deliver to? Heart of Illinois Harvest transports donated food to more than 60 food banks, food pantries and feeding services throughout the Peoria Community. Who donates food? Donors to Heart of Illinois Harvest include grocery stores, restaurants, farmers, caterers, schools, churches and many, many others who hope to see food used by those who need it instead of sitting in landfills. We have over 40 locations who donate on a weekly basis. How many volunteers do you have? Over 70 volunteers keep Heart of Illinois Harvest running. How does Heart of Illinois Harvest operate? We are entirely supported by grants, donations, and in-kind services.
